What’s On in Norfolk this Autumn

What's on in Norfolk from this Autumn? We listed an array of things to do in Spring and Summer earlier in the year and can not wait to see what is coming for next year, we will be sure to let you know ahead of time to help you plan for those too.

What's on in Norfolk – Wildlife

North Norfolk is famous for attracting large numbers of migratory birds for the winter. Chief amongst them is the Pinkfoot Goose which breeds in Iceland and spends the winter primarily in the UK. Whether or not you are interested in birds, you can hardly miss them in North Norfolk in the Autumn. Their favourite food is sugar beet tops left after the harvest. As they prefer to eat in daylight they can be seen and heard flying to their feeding grounds in the morning and returning in the evening. They typically roost somewhere safe from natural predators such as on tidal sandbanks or beaches.

A common sight in North Norfolk

There are many bird reserves in North Norfolk, perhaps one of the best areas in the country for seeing wildlife. Try one of these

What's on in Norfolk – Christmas Spectacular

Norfolk is also world-famous for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular built up over many years by John Cushing and now run day to day by his sons. It has to be seen to be believed.

Thursford’s Christmas Spectacular has attracted over 5.7 million visitors to date and it is now generally recognised as being the largest show of its kind in the country, if not Europe. Up to fifty coaches per day travel from all over the country and many people turn the trip into a mini holiday why not stay in one of our lovely holiday cottages?

It is set in the magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, with a cast of 120 professional singers, dancers and musicians – most of whom are straight out the West End. The three-hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. It’s a fast-moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites, with famous and much-loved chart toppers being performed alongside traditional carols.

What's on in Norfolk – Local Food

There is much more to do and one of the other seasonal delights is the mussel season. In the video below you can see one of Norfolk's best-known fishermen, Cyril Southerland of Brancaster Staithe, being interviewed about the Autumn.
